There are few things that one must look out for while one chooses a company for creating a web site

a) Check the companies credential's and portfolio, most companies have a portfolio online with the sites they have designed and developed. Go through the portfolio and have a look at the various work they have done, if you find their work creative or robust enough then take it to the next step.

b) It is a good idea to choose a single company for both your website design and development, there are little or no integration issues, and it makes it simpler for you to deal with a single point of contact, instead of having to deal with various companies for various aspects of the web site.

c) It is also a good idea, to pick a company that has worked on something similar to what you are looking to get developed. Any company can make claims to being able to design and develop state of the art websites. However if the company has prior experience in creating similar sites, they are fast, efficient and are able to offer you a lot of options. This however does not mean that you completely disregard a company, based on the lack of prior experience.

Once you have decided on a company that you think can meet all your requirements, be prepared to offer continuous feedback and opinions on what you are looking for. Web design is pretty much like building a house, you have to keep trying new ideas, making changes. But the most essential step is however to have as solid foundation and good workmen. The same applies to web design and web development. If you have the right people working for you, then nothing can come in between you and a successful, good looking and user friendly web site. Just remember, that Rome was not built in a day, if you are looking for something fast, quick and functional.

Let your web designer's know. In today's fast moving day and age, most companies accommodate people who are looking to put up a site fast, and most companies today are adept at meeting dead lines. Just make sure the site is built from scratch and you are in touch with your web design team each step of the way.
